GS500 Census and online sale average

This page was last updated on December 22, 2008.

As of December 22, 2008, the estimated GS500 population is 40288

Methodology - The Population is an estimate based on field recording, eBay sales, and volunteered data. The count number is determined by adding one to the largest serial number reported or recorded.

Q - "Why are you doing this?"

A - "To provide a GS500E/F hunter/seller with a resource to determine price and/or availability of a particular year GS500E/F. That's all."

If you would like to have your frame number added to the census - send me an email = "vtxstar/at/bellsouth/dot/net".

NOTE: VINs are not made available to the public or stored on any online server.

This may provide some comfort to contributors though there is no real reason for being so protective of something anyone on foot can walk up and write down. <g>

A GSTwin.com forum member provided some feedback and now the page will have two values for pricing.

"Bid Value" is the average price at end of auction of a bike that has received bids and has ended normally. (This keeps "ended early" auctions out.)

"Sold Value" is the average price at end of auction of a bike that has sold. (Note: A bike may be sold multiple times. Each listing/auction will count.)

This is a good estimate of what you could expect to pay for a GS on eBay but, your market and what you are willing to pay will ultimately determine the price.

By nature, this census is dynamic and dependent on the data at hand. It should be used only as a relative indication of the availability and price of a particular year. Price in particular is subject to market influences, quality of the bike, and popular trends.

September 29, 2005: I have updated my search filter for eBay. The result was picking up more GS500F listings, A LOT more listings. I also found a new high frame number for 1993. Many GSs are listed under GSX-R, probably due to the full fairing that gives the bike the "Little Brother" look of the Gixxers.

May 7, 2006 I use three filters for eBay. This seems to grab a large percentage of listings, though I can never be 100% certain I catch them all. Sellers often do a very bad job of listing their GS.
